# Amaysim Network Review: Coverage, Plans and Our Sydney Archive

**Quick answer**

Amaysim uses the Optus mobile network. It is worth considering if Optus works in the places you use your phone and the plan’s renewal period suits your budget. Our Sydney observations below are from the 2024 article, not a new network test.

## What the original Sydney review reported

The article published on 19 May 2024 described a week around Sydney’s west, inner west, east and north. It reported downloads around 55–65Mbps and uploads around 10–15Mbps, with a drop in speed and no 5G connection on part of the northern visit.

Those are the original writer’s reported observations. The recovered text does not include the raw test results, handset model, exact locations or test times. We cannot reproduce or independently verify the measurements, and they should not be used as a prediction for your address in 2026. The old $10/10GB offer and 100Mbps cap belong to that account of the trip.

## Coverage today

Use [Amaysim’s map](https://www.amaysim.com.au/about/coverage) for home, work and places you visit regularly. It predicts outdoor coverage at ground level; it is not a promise of reception in a back room, lift or underground car park. 5G needs a compatible phone, plan and SIM.

Our suggested trial is deliberately ordinary: make a call from the room where you normally answer, send a photo outside your workplace, and try your usual commute. One fast result beside a tower tells you less than a reliable call where you actually need it.

## Compare renewal periods before comparing data

Thirteen 28-day periods cover 364 days. Twelve calendar-month payments cover a year. For a like-for-like budget, count the actual renewals you will pay during your intended stay; do not multiply a 28-day price by twelve and call it an annual bill.

## Our recommendation

Shortlist Amaysim if its network works for you, then choose the smallest allowance that comfortably covers your recent use. If you are uncertain about reception, avoid committing a large amount to a long-expiry plan before trying the service. We have not tested current customer-support response times and cannot score them from an uneventful 2024 activation.
