**Quick answer**

Text balance to 125 100 from your Telstra Pre-Paid SIM. Or open My Telstra, choose Services, then your Pre-Paid number: its summary shows the balance. Check the expiry date as well as the amount left.

### Choose your balance check

- SMS: balance to 125 100
Useful when you already have the SIM in a phone and do not want to sign in.

- App: My Telstra → Services → your Pre-Paid service
Match the number before reading the balance, particularly on a family account.

- Computer: My Telstra → Services → your Pre-Paid service
Use the browser if your phone is unavailable or the app will not open.

## Expiry and data rollover

Telstra starts a new recharge period when you recharge. An early recharge does not simply add extra days to the old expiry. Old inclusions remain available until their original expiry; unused data rolls over only where your plan allows it.

After expiry, Telstra describes a recharge-only period with no mobile data and restricted outgoing calls. If you do not recharge within six months, the service is deactivated and the number is lost.

## When the balance looks wrong

### Check these before paying again

- The app shows a different number
  Check: Which service is selected.
Next: Switch to the SIM you are trying to check, then compare the SMS result.

- A recharge has not appeared
Check: The receipt, recipient number and whether the bank entry is pending.
Next: Refresh the account after a few minutes; keep the receipt for support rather than repeating the payment immediately.

- The phone says you have used more data
Check: The start date in the phone’s usage counter.
Next: Compare the same dates. A calendar-month counter is a poor comparison with a recharge that began partway through the month.

- You expected old data to remain
Check: The plan name, old expiry and recharge time.
Next: Ask support which rollover condition applied to that recharge; do not infer eligibility from another Telstra plan.

A useful habit is to screenshot the balance and expiry before changing plans. If an allowance disappears, you then have the number, date and previous entitlement together, without having to reconstruct them during a support chat.

### Ready for a balance query

- I checked the correct mobile number.

- I saved the recharge receipt and payment time.

- I noted the old and new expiry dates.

- I compared usage over matching dates.
