Viewers in several regional South Australian and New South Wales markets should check their streaming setup before Friday 9 October. WIN is scheduled to stop transmitting 10, 10 Drama and 10 Comedy in Mount Gambier, the Riverland, Griffith and the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area.

ABC reported the decision on 4 October, following unsuccessful negotiations between WIN and Network 10. The broadcasters had previously extended the arrangement for three months. WIN told ABC the service was no longer commercially viable; Network 10 said viewers could continue watching through its website and app.

### What you need to know

This affects the named regional broadcast markets, rather than Network 10 across Australia. The final broadcasts are scheduled for 9 October. Online viewing is an alternative, but check your internet connection, supported device and the programme you actually want before relying on it.

## What changes for your television?

The reported withdrawal concerns the signal delivered to an aerial. If it proceeds as announced, retuning a television will not bring back a service the broadcaster has stopped transmitting. Avoid paying for an aerial repair just because these particular channels disappear after the scheduled withdrawal.

Keep the distinction in mind when diagnosing a problem: a channel missing from an aerial service and a video failing inside an app are different faults. If other aerial channels also disappear, investigate that wider problem separately.

## Check the 10 app on a device you already own

Network 10 lists supported smart TVs, streaming boxes, phones, tablets and computer browsers. Compatibility depends on the particular model and software, so check its official device list rather than assuming that every smart television supports the same app.

1. Find the official 10 app on your supported device, or use the official 10.com.au website on a computer.

2. Sign in to your 10 account. On a supported TV, follow its activation prompt and use the official activation page if requested.

3. Find the live channel or programme you want, and try playing it before the regional broadcasts finish.

4. Check whether viewing works reliably on the household connection. If needed, help other household members practise the sign-in and playback steps.

The app's Australian listing includes live 10, 10 Comedy and 10 Drama. That channel list is not a promise that every programme or sporting event has identical online rights, schedules or availability. Check the specific listing before an important broadcast.

## Free viewing still needs a working connection

Network 10 describes its service as free and supported by advertising. Its activation guidance says it does not require credit-card details. Use the official app and website; a card-payment prompt on an unrelated activation page deserves a careful check.

Internet viewing also uses your connection. Consider any data allowance and test playback on the screen you plan to use. Start with existing equipment: an app problem alone does not establish that your household needs a faster plan or a new TV.

For anyone helping a relative make the change, write down the correct app name and sign-in route. A short practice session before 9 October is more useful than trying to troubleshoot during a favourite programme.
