Stan’s cheapest plan has changed. From 3 August 2026 the Basic Entertainment plan became Basic with Ads: the price fell from A$12 to A$9.99 a month, picture quality rose from SD to up to HD, advertising arrived, and downloads went away. Some existing Basic customers were moved to a different offer instead.

**Quick answer**

Basic with Ads costs A$9.99 a month directly, or A$10.49 if your Stan account is billed through Apple. You get one screen, up to HD and ads before and during movies and shows, but no downloads. Ad-free on-demand viewing now starts at Standard, A$17.99, with Premium at A$23.99.

If Stan notified you of a 12-month upgrade to Standard instead, that is a separate offer for customers whose main device cannot show ads. Check your own notification and account rather than assuming another subscriber’s terms apply to you.

## The Plans at a Glance

### Stan Entertainment Plans, as Listed on 10 September 2026

Monthly prices from Stan’s migration notice. Stan Sport remains a separate A$20 add-on.

- Basic with Ads: A$9.99 a month, or A$10.49 through Apple billing.
1 screen, up to HD, no downloads
Ads before and during movies and TV shows

- Standard: A$17.99 a month.
2 screens, up to HD, downloads on 2 devices
  Ad-free on-demand entertainment

- Premium: A$23.99 a month.
4 screens, up to 4K where available, downloads on 5 devices
  Ad-free on-demand entertainment

Two details from Stan’s notice are worth knowing. Live sport and certain live broadcast events carry advertising on every tier, so “ad-free” applies to on-demand movies and shows. And ads do not appear inside a Stan Kids profile, though family titles watched outside a Kids profile may show an ad before they start.

Titles you had already downloaded on Basic stay playable until they reach their standard 30-day expiry. After that, downloads need a Standard or Premium plan.

## Some Existing Customers Get a Different Offer

Stan’s second notice applies to selected Basic subscribers whose primary device does not support advertising. Instead of moving to Basic with Ads, they were upgraded to a Standard Entertainment plan for 12 months at the same A$12 a month, with three screens and downloads on three devices, and picture quality rising to up to HD.

After the 12 months, the price reverts to Standard’s then-current retail price, currently A$17.99, unless the customer changes or cancels beforehand. Those three-screen, three-download entitlements last only as long as the plan is not cancelled; cancel and rejoin, and the ordinary Standard allowance of two screens and two downloads applies. Anyone on this offer who would rather pay less can switch to Basic with Ads at A$9.99.

## What Should You Check?

Start with your own notification and your Stan account rather than another subscriber’s description of the change. Then judge the plan against how you actually watch.

### Before You Change Plans

- Record your plan name, billing provider and next charge date.
Apple billing changes the Basic with Ads price.

- If you have the 12-month upgrade, note when it ends.
The price reverts to Standard’s retail rate unless you act first.

- Decide whether offline viewing matters before choosing the cheapest tier.
Basic with Ads has no downloads.

- Compare the screens you actually use with the allowance.
One screen on Basic with Ads; two on Standard; four on Premium.

If you received the selected-customer Standard offer, save the email and a screenshot of your account’s entitlements before changing anything. Stan says cancelling ends that offer’s three-screen and three-download entitlements; rejoining is not a way to restore them. Set a reminder before your own 12-month price period ends.

## Sources and How This Was Checked

Prices, dates, entitlements and the selected-customer offer come from Stan’s two help-centre notices, read on 10 September 2026. Those pages describe the terms shown to notified customers on that date; recheck your own account before changing plans. No Stan account, billing or playback was tested for this article, and Stan Sport entitlements are not covered here.
