On the new speeds, it says it is still calculating typical speeds on this plan, that the information is an estimate only based on limited preliminary testing, and that actual speeds are yet to be confirmed. Telstra also notes that speeds vary with antenna placement, satellite congestion and network prioritisation, and that severe weather can briefly interrupt service. The announced increase is $25 a month: 20 per cent, or $300 over 12 months if the price stays unchanged. The 170 Mbps figure is the bottom of an estimated typical range, not a guaranteed minimum.
