These terms apply to techxtelco.com and to the newsletter, contact form and other features we provide through it. By using the site you agree to them. They are written to be read, not skimmed, and nothing in them takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
About us
Tech X Telco is an independent Australian publisher. We write guides and news about phones, home internet, mobile plans, streaming and everyday technology so that readers can make good decisions with what they already own and what they are about to buy.
Using the site
You may read, print and share links to our articles for personal, non-commercial use.
You may subscribe to our feed and use the machine-readable copies of our pages that we publish, in the ways described in our robots.txt, including for personal reading assistants and search.
You may not republish, sell, scrape at abusive rates, use to train or fine-tune a commercial model without permission, or present our articles as your own, in full or in substantial part. Short quotations with a link and attribution are welcome.
You may not interfere with the site’s operation, probe or test its security, attempt to access data or systems that are not made available to you, submit forms on behalf of others, or use the newsletter or contact form to send spam.
Linking to our pages is welcome. Framing our pages inside another site, or linking in a way that suggests we endorse you, is not.
How our content is produced
Our guides and news are researched and written by our editorial team from primary sources: provider websites and documents, regulators, official statistics, product documentation and our own testing where we say we have tested something. Every article shows when it was published and when it was last checked, and lists its sources.
We use software tools, including artificial-intelligence tools, to help with parts of our work, such as research, drafting, summarising, checking, formatting and creating illustrations. A person reviews everything before it is published and is responsible for it. Some editorial images are AI-generated illustrations and are captioned as such; they depict ideas, not real events, products or people unless stated. We do not represent that any content is free of tool-assisted work, and the involvement of a tool does not change your rights or our responsibilities under these terms.
Some pages include live data supplied by partners, such as plan comparison tables. That data comes from the provider through the partner at the moment you load the page. We do not control, verify or adjust it in real time, and it may differ from what a provider offers you directly.
Our content is general information
Everything we publish is general information for Australian readers. It is not financial, legal, technical or other professional advice, it is not a recommendation to buy or switch, and it does not take your circumstances into account. Prices, plan inclusions, offers, coverage, eligibility and product features change often and vary by provider, location and customer. Always check the current terms with the provider before you sign up, switch, change a setting or spend money. Where we describe steps to follow, you follow them at your own risk and should keep backups and check the provider’s own instructions.
Accuracy and corrections
We check claims before publishing and we correct errors openly: a correction is recorded on the article rather than silently overwritten. If you spot something wrong, tell us through the contact form. Despite this care we do not warrant that any page is complete, current, accurate or free of errors at the moment you read it, and a "last checked" date is a statement about our process, not a guarantee.
Comparisons, rankings and opinions
Where we compare or rank products and services, we do so on criteria we choose for Australian readers generally, using information available to us at the time. A comparison is our opinion. It is not exhaustive, may not include every provider or plan, and may not reflect what is best for you. Ratings, "best" lists and similar labels are editorial judgements, not certifications.
Advertising and affiliate links
The site is funded by advertising and by affiliate commissions. Advertising is served by Google and is labelled “Advertisement”. Some plan comparison tables and product links are affiliate links: if you click through and sign up or buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate arrangements never decide what we cover, how we rank options or what we say about them. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains how this works in detail.
Third-party sites and content
Articles link to providers, regulators and other sources, and some embed content from partners or reproduce public posts and statements from third parties. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, security or privacy practices of other sites or of third-party material, and quoting or embedding something is not an endorsement of it. Their terms apply when you use them. Third-party statements we report are attributed to their source and are not our own claims.
Newsletter and contact form
The newsletter is free and sent only to addresses that have confirmed a subscription. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and we comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Messages sent through the contact form are read by our editorial team and used only to reply or to act on what you told us. By sending us a correction, tip or other material you allow us to use it to improve our content without payment and confirm that you are entitled to share it. Our Privacy Policy describes what we store and for how long.
Polls and saved stories
Reader polls are for interest only. They are not scientific and one device casts one vote. Saved stories are kept in your own browser, so they are not available on another device and are lost if you clear your browser data.
Intellectual property
Articles, images, illustrations, charts, code and design on the site are owned by Tech X Telco or used under licence, and are protected by copyright and other laws. Brand names and logos of providers such as Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and NBN Co belong to their owners; we use them only to identify the products we write about, and no endorsement by those companies is implied.
Complaints about content and takedown requests
If you believe something on the site is inaccurate, infringes your rights or should not be published, tell us through the contact form with the page address, what you are concerned about and, for a rights claim, evidence that you hold the rights. We acknowledge requests within seven days and act promptly where a request is justified, which may include correcting, updating, attributing or removing the material. Making a request does not itself establish that a claim is valid.
Australian Consumer Law
Our content is provided free of charge. Where the Australian Consumer Law or another law applies guarantees that cannot be excluded, those guarantees apply and nothing in these terms limits them. To the extent that liability can lawfully be limited, our liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to resupplying the relevant information or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Subject to the section above, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties and conditions, express or implied, and we are not liable for any loss or damage, however caused (including negligence), arising from or in connection with: use of or reliance on the site or its content; any decision you make about products, services, providers, plans, purchases, settings or devices; errors, omissions or out-of-date information; content produced or assisted by software tools; live data supplied by partners; third-party sites, content or services we link to, embed or report on; interruption, unavailability or loss of data; or events beyond our reasonable control. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or business, or for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for how you use the information on the site. If you breach these terms in a way that causes loss to us, for example by republishing our content commercially, by misusing our forms or by attacking the site, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by talking to us first is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the Commonwealth courts sitting there. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
Changes
We may update these terms when the site changes. The effective date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Significant changes are noted at the top of the page for 30 days.
