This is catch-up coverage of a change from 4 September 2026. Google released Lyria 3.5, a new version of the music model inside the Gemini app, and says it is available to everyone, free accounts included. If you have wanted a custom ringtone or a backing track for a family video without paying for a stock library, this is the feature to try.
Lyria 3.5 makes short or longer music tracks, with or without vocals, from a description or a chosen genre. Google says it is available to all users globally on the web and in the Gemini mobile app.
The announcement does not say how many tracks you can make, whether paid plans get more, or what you may do with a track commercially. Check Gemini’s own terms before using one for a business.
What You Can Make
Google says you can select or describe a genre, choose between vocal and instrumental styles, and pick a short or a longer track. It offers templates for background music, birthday tracks, backing tracks for videos, brand jingles and ringtones. Google describes the model as having improved vocal expression and richer musical arrangements than the previous version.
Those are Google’s descriptions. We have not generated a track with Lyria 3.5, so this article does not say how good the results are.

Who Gets It
The post says Lyria 3.5 is available to all users globally on the web and in the mobile app, and also through Google Flow Music, Google AI Studio and Google Workspace Vids. No country list is given, and Australia is not called out either way, so the global statement is the only availability evidence we have.

What the Announcement Leaves Out
The post has no usage limits, no mention of what Google AI Pro or Ultra subscribers get over free users, and nothing about ownership or commercial rights in the music. It also does not say whether generated tracks carry a watermark. For a personal ringtone none of that matters much. For anything you would publish or sell, read the Gemini terms and the Google AI usage policies first.
