Apple’s Australian newsroom release for the iPhone 18 Pro, dated 9 September 2026, carries the date most iPhone owners actually care about: iOS 27 arrives as a free update on Tuesday 15 September. Use that Australian date when planning your update; Apple has not specified a local release hour in this announcement.
iOS 27 will be available as a free software update on Tuesday 15 September in Australia. Apple Intelligence arrives with it the same day on supported devices set to a supported language.
Apple’s iOS page lists compatible phones, including the iPhone 11 and later listed models and iPhone SE from the second generation. AI feature eligibility is a separate requirement. The Siri beta date in the newsroom release is inconsistent with its iOS date.
The Dates
Three lines in the release set the schedule. iOS 27 will be available as a free software update on Tuesday 15 September. Apple Intelligence will be available with iOS 27 on Tuesday 15 September for users with an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language. And Siri AI is rolling out with iOS 27 as a beta on Monday 14 September for users with a supported device set to English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish coming in October.
Those dates conflict within the same Australian release. Apple does not explain the difference there. We cannot establish a separate Australian Siri launch time from this wording, and have not assumed that a timezone conversion resolves it.

Which iPhones Can Update?
Apple’s Australian iOS 27 page already has a compatibility list. It includes the iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 families, their listed Pro, Max, Plus and mini variants, iPhone 16e, iPhone 17, 17e and 17 Pro models, iPhone Air, iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, and iPhone SE (second generation and later). Check your exact model against that page before making plans.
Being eligible for iOS 27 does not establish eligibility for every Apple Intelligence feature. The release separately requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device and supported language. We have not tested performance, battery life or app compatibility on any of these phones.
