Spintel Mobile Plans Review

Spintel Mobile Plans

We are back! after a small break, we’ve got more plans to review! In today’s article, we’ll be delving into Spintel Mobile Plans.

So, who are Spintel? Well, Spintel is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that piggybacks on the infrastructure of a larger carrier to offer mobile services.

This allows Spintel to keep its prices low, but it can also mean that coverage areas and data speeds may be limited.

In this review, we’ll take a closer look at Spintel Mobile Plans, including their coverage, data options, customer service, and overall value.

What Network Does Spintel Use?

Spintel utilizes the mobile towers of Optus, one of Australia’s major carriers. This means Spintel offers decent coverage in major cities and populated areas.

However, if you live in a rural area or travel frequently outside of metropolitan centres, you may experience spotty coverage or dropped calls.

It’s important to check Spintel’s coverage map before signing up for a plan to ensure you’ll have service where you need it most.

Does Spintel Offer 5G?

Spintel offers 4G on the Optus Mobile Network. They currently do not offer 5G on mobile plans, however do offer it on the 5G Home Internet Plans.

I did find it a bit confusing on the website how they showed 5G Coverage and have a dedicated page for 5G Plans, however no plans mention 5G for the typical mobile plan.

Some clarity on the website, where they state that it’s currently only available towards 5G Home Internet would be beneficial.

Spintel Mobile Plans & Data Options

Spintel offers a variety of mobile plans, with data allowances ranging from a mere 25GB to a more substantial 200GB.

These plans are well-suited for light data users who primarily use their phones for texting, browsing the web occasionally, and using social media apps sparingly.

However, if you stream music or videos regularly, or use GPS navigation frequently, you may be better off, opting for the larger mobile plans which include more data.

In summary, Spintel Mobile Plans are a great option for budget-minded users who prioritize affordability over extensive network coverage or a plethora of data.

Customer Service & Customer Perception

Spintel’s customer service is primarily handled online through a self-service portal and a live chat option.

While this may be inconvenient for those who prefer phone support, it helps Spintel keep its costs down and pass those savings on to customers.

The online knowledge base is comprehensive and covers a wide range of topics, and the live chat option typically offers quick response times.

That said, the customer service opinion online was quite surprising. They were absolutely smashed on Trust Pilot, with a rating of just 1.3 from 127 reviews.

The main issue being the customer service standard and clear lack of communication with customers, around processes.

Then on the other side of things, they have an incredible rating of 4.4 from nearly 10,000 reviews on Product Hunt.

All things considered, if you add all the reviews together across both review sites, they still average over 4 stars, which a terrific result for a Telco provider.

The Verdict: Spintel Hits the Mark for Budget-Conscious Users

Spintel Mobile Plans offer a compelling option for value-conscious mobile phone users. With their low prices and decent coverage in populated areas, Spintel is a solid choice for those who can live with a limited data allowance and potentially spotty service in rural regions.

However, if you require extensive coverage, blazing-fast data speeds, or a wider range of data options, you may want to consider a plan from a traditional carrier, who provide good regional coverage, like Telstra.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not you want to sign up to a Spintel Mobile Plan is up to you, and if you’re happy with low prices with okay data, you should 100% consider these plans.
